Dialogues between ancient materials and modern lines

2020 shows, at a conceptual and design level, a deeper maturity that completely detaches itself from the trends that had already existed, for example, at the beginning of the last decade. At this point a dialogue has been reached between the clean and linear shapes that are typical of our times and the mature reference to the quality of the materials and its colours as in the past.

This year we will indeed be able to see furnishing accessories made of materials such as wood, marble and more traditional metals such as brass and copper. Even velvet, the perfect combination of luxury and comfort, will be widely used for sofas and armchairs in the coming months.

In recent years, public opinion has become very sensitive to issues of eco-sustainability and the world of design furniture could only be influenced by it. For this reason, an increasing number of companies offer furnishing accessories that are made with the most recyclable materials, such as the metal design furnishings that are infinitely recyclable, and less processed. Finally, furniture that does not use animal-derived materials is preferred.

We all want a cosy home that includes the warmth of a fireplace, but we often find ourselves hesitating while thinking about the size that this structure can occupy in a home. The need for a suspended fireplace or a bio-fireplace proved to be convenient and interesting for this need. This trend in 2020 finds its maturity revealing itself a real space saver.

Freestanding libraries

High and freestanding pieces of furniture will be very popular this year, which in addition to their main function of necessary furniture, will also add that of a dividing wall in a large open space. Tall yes, but not impressive: they will in fact be characterized by simple lines and suspended elements that make the environment spectacular.

Not only eco-sustainable furniture, but in 2020 the references to nature will also be trendy: textures, decorations, even the furniture itself will recall natural environments to recreate a serene and peaceful aura in the home environment.

Geometric textures have been growing in the last period, we can often find them declined in the most varied forms. They can be found almost everywhere: wallpaper, sofas, linens, art, floors, lamps and decorations of all kinds. In order not to risk overdoing it, you need to try to achieve a certain "geometric balance" that will allow you to enjoy strategically chosen furnishings.

Metallic glares

Metals in home furnishings will also be very successful this year. Used in many variations and styles ranging from elegant, to minimal to industrial, the metals will be sported both in small and bright details and in the most important furnishing accessories. The different finishes of steel, the iridescent shades of corten furniture, the precious aspect of brass and the decisive character of copper are also confirmed this year as a trend for home furnishings in 2020.
