VARESÈ | Corten bench

The Corten bench, designed by Genoese architect Gianni Magnolia, takes its inspiration and its name from Varese, the "City of Gardens". The space inside what we might call an "empty" vessel becomes a generator of form. Through the press-bending and welding of the Corten sheet, the boxed "V"-shaped support of the letter is obtained to hold up the bench. The geometric decorations, created with water-jet technology and arranged along the whole seat and backrest, create particular effects of light and shadow that shift from the steel surface onto the ground below. Varese is the expression of the union of articulated shapes and the shifting colours of Corten. The bench is modular and offers several composition options.
