We are talking about the "Rustrial", a mix between these two terms and considered the real new design tendency to the most authoritative magazines of the furniture world. Let’s understand better what this style means for Italians and how it arrived in our country. The industry style, as we already anticipated in our magazine several times, has recently entered the made in Italy imagination overwhelmingly. Perhaps due to the outstanding power of the British and American media, this typically Nordic style, where the raw cement finishes are combined with bricks, mezzanines and exposed steel beams, is now increasingly requested by architects and designers throughout the peninsula. The industry style has always been associated with the open spaces, a multifunctional environment that minimizes the waste of floor space and combines living room, kitchen and studio with bedroom. Nowadays, new materials like corten steel are being introduced to the industry style open spaces. However, complements such as mezzanines and Corten libraries remain a must, fundamental for furnishing these spaces. In fact, we will see them more and more often in trade magazines and around the world's fairs, starting from the 2019 furniture fair. But what is the real introduction transforming made in Italy open spaces, environments considered typically so cold? They are certainly the warm materials such as wood or Corten steel, which together with the cold shades of the cement, contribute to give a more welcoming touch to these spaces. In its most disparate versions, from those typically of made in Italy and more rustic to the most worked and typical of northern Europe, wood remains an essential material in Italian homes. But it’s not all. What is more transforming the lofts and open spaces made in Italy, is the ever-increasing presence of green corners and indoor plants. The garden is certainly a luxury in the cities, but we know, it is precisely from human needs that trends, arts that the most beautiful initiatives arise. The Italians, then, have always been people lived and thrived thanks to their visceral relationship with nature.
Think only about of how much agriculture and the food sector weigh on their lives. The impact that all this has had on made in Italy indoor design is the birth of green corners and balconies used as vegetable gardens for the most disparate plants. Indoor gardens are not only a very popular, aesthetic solution by now, but they also became a powerful anti-stress device. Indeed, researchers has shown that houses with many plants within, even large ones integrated with sophisticated designer Corten planters perhaps, make people happier and more livable. |
